Diamniadio, October 17 (APS) – Industrialists and investors in Senegal welcomed, Thursday, the launch of the general meetings of industry, commerce and SMEs-SMIs, believing that it is an area of ​​partnerships public-private trust.

These private sector actors thus estimated that these general statements constitute “a new space of private public partnerships of truth and trust, a space where the know-how of our industrial sector meets the international requirements and standards of quality of products and services ”.

“Today, the general meeting of the trade industry and SMEs constitutes a space where Senegalese industrial production can generate more purchasing power, national added value and sustainable jobs,” said the president of the National Employers Council (CNP), Baidy Agne.

He considers these states general as a “space where Senegalese consumption of industrial products must be further supported to allow a consistent redistribution of income to our populations”.

The president of the CNP spoke at the launch of the States General of Industry and Commerce which opened this morning in Diamniadio and which continues until tomorrow, in the presence of Senegal’s economic and financial partners, diplomats and of the national private sector.

According to Mr. Agne, “this meeting is of capital importance in several respects”, also welcoming the important role expected of the national private sector within the framework of the new economic policy framework made public at the beginning of the week”, alluding to the Senegal 2050 National Transformation Agenda.

The president of the Union of Industrial Service Providers and Traders of Senegal (UPIC), Amadou Seck, was delighted with the fact that “for the first time, the State of Senegal is calling directly on the national private sector to finance part of the economy”.

“We cannot develop without the private sector,” he added, noting that the private sector is “the engine of growth, because it creates wealth, employs Senegalese people”.

Referring to the need to highlight the national private sector, Amadou Seck says he hopes “there will be positive results for the populations, but also which will allow the State to achieve the assigned objectives”.

“As long as we put the real players forward, our country will be able to industrialize,” he added.

The president of the investors club, Pierre Goudiaby Atépa, also welcomed the organization of these general meetings of industry and commerce.

He is of the opinion that “never in its economic life has our country found itself in this situation where we finally have the energy we need for its transformation all year round”.

He also stressed the need for manufacturers to “come together to achieve their objectives”.
