Volodymyr Zelensky visits Belgium to present his “victory plan”: here’s what it consists of

Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, was in Brussels this Thursday. He presented his victory plan (for the war in the country) to the European Council. He also took advantage of his visit to decorate Ukrainian soldiers seriously injured in combat and currently being treated at the Neder-Over-Heembeek military hospital.

They started to smile again, that’s important for warriors. They don’t smile during the war. After so many horrible things, they are grateful to your country“, declared Volodymyr Zelensky. He came to greet his compatriots, three Ukrainian soldiers being treated for serious burns, between the European summit and his meeting at NATO.

Hadja Lahbib, Minister of Foreign Affairs, was alongside the Ukrainian president during the visit: “It was a very moving moment because it is the face of war at its cruelest, its harshest. With three patients who still smiled again, who were decorated and who told us how they were treated. And I have to tell you, they are delighted with the treatment they are receiving here at the burn hospital.

Belgium has already welcomed 5 other burn victims in November 2022. Ukraine expresses its gratitude for this welcome: “We thank your country for all this support, this help, this care“added President Zelensky.

What does the Ukrainian’s “victory plan” consist of?

After Washington, London, , Berlin and Rome, Volodymyr Zelensky came to present his victory plan first to European officials and then to NATO. And for good reason, the first key to this plan is to open discussions for future membership in NATO.

For this, you need an invitation from its members, which is what the Ukrainian president came for this Thursday.

Volodymyr Zelensky’s second wish: to be able to use long-range weapons provided by the West without restriction. For the moment, there are limits to prevent Russia from turning against suppliers, therefore Westerners.

Ukraine goes even further by requesting the deployment of additional long-range non-nuclear weapons capable of reaching Russian territory. The idea behind all this is to force Vladimir Putin to negotiate.

And in exchange for all this, Volodymyr Zelensky promises access to his country’s economic resources to those who help him. This is a plan titled for victory, but it will first have to be implemented. And it is far from won.
