Vic-en-Bigorre. From the Hautes-Pyrénées to the Landes

There is no causal link between weather conditions – whether deplorable and humid or sunny – and the organization of Regain club trips! Indeed, in this month of May, major historical and tourist events are taking place in the Hautes-Pyrénées, notably the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping, welcomed by President Emmanuel Macron, and the passage of the Olympic Flame on the way to the Paris Olympic Games until July 26. Although the weather was not ideal for a “nice month of May”, it allowed the Bigourdans to show their ability to react and adapt.

So, in May, the Regain club organized a new trip, this time to the Landes (where the Olympic flame will not pass). This journey benefited from good weather for discovering Chalosse, a region in the south of the Gascony department. The program included a guided tour of Dax, famous for its 63° hot fountain and its twelve thermal springs, as well as for its ramparts and its tradition of bullfighting, including bullfighting and Landes racing.

The day also included a gourmet stop with a typical Landes meal, from garbure to pastis, including foie gras, asparagus and duck breast, without forgetting a visit to the Chalosse museum. It was a great outing in the sun while waiting for the next getaway, this time planned towards the south-east.
