A lifeless body discovered this Monday in a screen of a microelectric power station in Cauterets in the Hautes-Pyrénées. Police are on site to determine the identity of the victim.

Firefighters and police were mobilized this Monday morning in the Hautes-Pyrénées after the discovery of a body near a screen of a microelectric power station in Cauterets. It was a central agent who spotted this body and alerted the emergency services.

The dislocated body would have found itself stuck at the level of the screen, in the canal fed by the Gave de Cauterets. Its state of decomposition suggests that it had been there for several days already.

This Monday morning, criminal identification technicians from the Hautes-Pyrénées gendarmerie are on site, to try to determine the identity of the victim and make initial findings. They will be joined during the day by underwater technicians from the Saint-Cyprien brigade.

According to initial information, the sex of the victim could not be determined at this time, but this discovery comes 4 days after the publication of a notice of disappearance of a 71-year-old woman, a resident of Argeles- Gazost, not found for 8 days.

This woman left her home without informing her family on Sunday May 12. Likely to have gone hiking in the Gaves valley, she had still not given any news since. And the wanted poster did not make it possible to locate her.
