Known in winter, the resort with four villages also offers many activities in spring and prepares those for summer, ranging from paddle to windsurfing, hiking and mountain biking and the unmissable Comnando game.

The Station des Rousses at an altitude of 1,120 meters has a total population of 7,162 inhabitants (number of permanent residents in 2022). The four municipalities of Rousses, Bois d’Amont, Prémanon and Lamoura have joined forces to jointly manage the activities of the resort and the tourist development of the territory. The first ski lift in Les Rousses appeared at the end of the 1930s and presented a varied entertainment program during the summer period.

The Station des Rousses offers sporting and cultural activities and exhibitions for all audiences. Outdoor activities are subject to weather conditions and are therefore likely to be postponed or canceled.

The essential Commando Games

It is an initiation course, orientation missions and commando course. This adventure course is based on the ramparts of Fort des Rousses, the 2nd largest fortress in France. Active until 1997, the commandos who came to train left the site to the station which took over certain workshops to introduce them to young and old. Today the activities are between the adventure course and the via ferata with sky jumps, zip lines and even Tarzan’s jump. Commando Games is open every weekend and public holidays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. until June 30, and every day during the summer period.

Activities near the lakes

In summer, the resort offers in the heart of its four villages Bois d’Amont, Prémanont, Lamourra and les Rousses the possibility of practicing on the two lakes that of Lamoura, the highest of the French Jura lakes, and on that of Les Rousses, pedal boat, kayak, paddle, windsurfing or even canoeing. For swimming, the sites are supervised all summer. A discovery trail of peat bogs and Upper Jura geology allows you to completely tour Lake Lamoura. A discovery trail of the peat bog and its fauna and flora is also offered around Lac des Rousses. Without forgetting supervised swimming on both sites

Village festivals

Several festivals are planned this summer, notably that of Les Rousses called La Guinguette, at the end of June. The opportunity to immerse yourself in the local atmosphere of a tavern with a program of pétanque competitions, waiters’ races and concerts that will satisfy all tastes. The Lamoura Lake Festival is planned for July with a fishing competition, a pétanque competition and other summer activities at the water’s edge

Sports entertainment

The Transju’Trail will be held the first weekend in June. The 5 km Urban Trail is added to the program this year with the race specially dedicated to children: La Transju’Trails des Marmots. The opportunity to discover Morez differently, with a trail through its paths and alleys. For more experienced athletes there will be new routes: 82 km, 62 km, 42 km, 25 km, 15 km, 10 km and the 15 km hike. The organizers assure that you will be surprised by the breathtaking panoramas of the Monts-Jura, Lake Geneva and the canton of Geneva, the Mont-Blanc massif, but also by unforgettable passages such as the ascent of the summits of Tuffes and the Dôle.

The Station des Rousses, in the heart of the Haut-Jura regional natural park and bordering Switzerland, is also the ideal starting point for many hikes and walks.
