The Gers has been placed on yellow alert for “storms and floods” for the days of Sunday May 19 and Monday May 20. The first levels of overflow could notably be reached in the Gimont sector as early as Sunday evening.

Already placed on “thunderstorm” alert since Saturday, the department has also been under yellow “flood” alert since Sunday morning, as confirmed by the Météo France website.

In the east of the department, the Gimone and the Save are particularly closely monitored. “Depending on the actual accumulations under the stormy showers, the Gimone could react again and the first levels of overflow could locally be reached in the Gimont sector as early as Sunday evening,” specifies Vigicrues.

In the west of Gers, Adour is also subject to increased vigilance. “This Sunday, May 19, localized storms with significant to strong hourly intensities are expected upstream of the Adour and Echez basins, which is likely to cause rapid rises in rivers, without reaching the first levels of overflow”, underlines Vigicrues. The Arros and Bouès basins are also closely monitored, with Météo France reporting a “risk of rapid rise on the watercourses”.
