The Elysée indicated this Sunday, May 19 that Emmanuel Macron will pay a national tribute on Wednesday to the two prison guards who died in an ambush to escape an inmate.

“A national tribute” to the two prison officers killed during the attack on their van in Incarville, in Eure, will take place on Wednesday May 22, the Elysée said this Sunday. Emmanuel Macron “will pay a national tribute to prison captain Fabrice Moello and brigadier supervisor Arnaud Garcia this Wednesday at 12 p.m. at the former Caen remand center”, clarified the presidency.

Tuesday May 14, shortly before 11 a.m., at the Incarville tollbooth, a heavily armed and prepared commando attacked the prison convoy transporting inmate Mohamed Amra. During this violent attack, two prison guards died and three were injured but are now out of danger.

An investigation was opened by the justice system specializing in the fight against organized crime to find the perpetrators and the escapee, who have since been sought throughout the country by 350 investigators. The hunt is also organized across borders, with a “red notice” issued by Interpol at the request of the French authorities to locate the escaped detainee.

Since this attack, which sparked numerous political reactions, prison guards have started a movement to block prisons to demand, among other things, an improvement in their security.
