Updated 05/18/2024

Vigicrues has placed the Vezouze section on red flood alert, Meurthe downstream on orange alert. A yellow alert remains in progress on the Seille and Meurthe upstream sections.

Situation update Saturday May 18, 2024 – 4:00 p.m.

The exceptional rains observed Thursday and Friday in the east of the territory caused reactions in the waterways. Reactions are moderate on the sections of the Vosges. A reaction
exceptional is underway on the Vezouze, the levels could reach those of the flood of October 4, 2006. A calm is expected this weekend, the moderate precipitation expected Saturday and Sunday will not have a significant impact on the current reactions .

Hydrological situation by section of watercourse:

Vezouze section – ROUGE Flood
The significant rain observed led to a reaction from the Vezouze. In Blâmont, the flood peak, with a height of 1.68m, was observed at 9 p.m. on Friday. In Thiébeauménil, a data transmission failure made it impossible to have the height observed in real time. The flood peak is expected this Saturday morning, at 9 a.m. the coast is 3.09m. In Lunéville-Vezouze, the increase continues this Saturday.
Significant flood in the Lunéville sector.
A graphic forecast is published on Vigicrues for the Thiebaumenil and Lunéville-Vezouze stations.

Meurthe downstream section – ORANGE Flood
The heavy rain observed led to a reaction from the Meurthe and its tributaries. The trend is increasing in the Damelevières sector this Saturday afternoon.
Significant flood.
A graphic forecast is published on Vigicrues for the Damelevières station.

Meurthe upstream section – YELLOW Raw
The significant rain observed led to a reaction from Meurthe. In St Dié, the flood peak, with a height of 1.80m, was observed at 12 p.m. Friday. The decline is underway. In Baccarat, the flood peak, with a height of 2.52m, was observed at 1 a.m. Saturday. The decline is underway. The flood wave is propagating towards Lunéville where the peak flood is expected on Saturday midday. The contributions from the Vezouze will maintain the level and slow down the decline.
Significant flood.
A graphic forecast is published on Vigicrues for the Baccarat and Luneville-Meurthe stations.

Seille section – YELLOW Flood
The heavy rain observed led to a reaction from the Seille. Local reactions are underway on the section, a propagation of the flood wave from upstream to downstream is expected in the coming days.
Seasonal flood.
A graphic forecast is published on Vigicrues for the Nomeny stations.

Possible consequences: Very significant flooding is possible, including in rarely flooded areas. Traffic conditions can be made extremely difficult across the entire road or rail network. Power outages of varying duration may occur. Phenomena of breakage or overflowing of dikes may occur. Below-ground areas, particularly underground car parks, can be dangerous.

Behavioral tips:
I stay at home and keep myself informed with the authorities.
I don’t use my car.
I move away from waterways, low points and bridges and reach the highest point possible.
I take refuge upstairs, as a last resort on the roof, I do not go down into the basement.
I only evacuate on orders from the authorities, taking my emergency kit with me.
