the essential
The Occitanie Region, through the regional elected official and mayor of Capdenac, came to meet the mayors of the territory of the Communauté de Communes Ouest Aveyron Communauté in order to prepare for the start of the school year and plan possible adjustments.

“Commitments made, commitments kept,” greets Stéphane Bérard, president of the departmental school transport and mobility commissions. He was last Friday in Villefranche, to meet the mayors of the municipalities of the West Aveyron territory in order to prepare, in the presence of many elected officials, for the 2024-2025 school year.
Indeed, the Occitanie Region, identified as the Mobility Organizing Authority, has exercised responsibility for school transport since 2018, with its mobility service, based for Aveyron at the Rodez Regional Office.

The specificities of a rural territory

This close link with the municipalities appears to be essential to ensure the transport of students to their school, and to respond concretely to the specificities of this predominantly rural territory. The regional elected official and the services were thus able to recall the commitment made by President Carole Delga to demand a level of quality service with free school transport, extended since the last school year to all commercial lines in the network. of LiO coaches, “the red buses”.
It was also an opportunity for mayors to ask questions about transport regulations in order to best inform their fellow citizens and to inform the services of the adjustments to take into consideration for the next school year in their territory. “This annual local meeting allows for effective collaboration, Region and municipalities, in order to offer the most suitable service to families in each region,” explains Stéphane Bérard.
All that is now needed is to organize the operating schedules before sending them back to the municipalities so that they can inform families. The coming months will not be too long, as everyone’s needs are so numerous.
