It’s a party weekend which is planned for Pentecost, in Poigny-la-Forêt (Yvelines). Three days of activities with the aim of delighting the public and raising funds to restore the Nymphaeum (Editor’s note: steam bath, place of relaxation and prestige in certain Renaissance and 17th century castles) from the 17th century which is found on the Moulineaux site.

Knight encampment

The company of knights of the 15the century “Les Regrattiers d’Histoire” of Magny-les-Hameaux will set up camp on the lawn around the Claude Vatran room (in the center of the village of Poigny-la-Forêt). You will be able to see them setting up, having their meals, celebrating, a whole program!

The knights in armor will give battles of medieval fencing demonstrationwill lead the public to “square of the pickers” (adolescents and adults will be invited to form a square of pickers by equipping themselves with polearms, under the orders of the captain and sergeants) for the big tug of war and will make the spectators dance. A tent will serve as a “gamble” where visitors can play games. board games from the Middle Ages.

Sunday and Monday late afternoon, the company will fire artillery pieces from the end of the Middle Ages, the ancestors of rifles and cannons, in a deafening noise.

Hike and visit Les Moulineaux

Hike to the Moulineaux site (free)

On Saturday May 18, 2024, at 2 p.m., a guided hike will be organized from the Claude Vatran room (in the center of the village) to the site of the former Prieuré des Moulineaux (along the RD107). A guided walk through the forest, between Poigny-la-Forêt and Guiperreux. The distance to cover is 4 km outward and 4 km back, take your tennis shoes or good shoes! Free

Guided tour/show (by reservation)

Saturday May 18, 2024, at 3 p.m., visitors, arriving on foot or by bike at Les Moulineaux, will be welcomed by guides from the “Sauvons les Moulineaux” association, who will introduce them to the history of the site through different eras, from the 12th century to the present day. The guided tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and includes a concert and a snack (tasting of hypocras, apple juice and medieval cakes.) By reservation. Adult: €10, child up to 12 years old: free. (Parking only possible for people with reduced mobility)

Storytellers by reservation

Sunday May 20, 2024from 7:30 p.m., a group of storytellers will tell stories from all eras under the trees on the edge of the pond, on the lawn of the Claude Vatran room.

Workshops for children by reservation

Workshops for children, such as crossbow shooting, the little knight tournament, the little archaeologist game (children will have to dig up terracotta slabs, medieval style, in a pile of sand), pottery or drawing of a stained glass window will welcome the young, valiant knights and signet rings.

Free entertainment

  • You can learn the board games of the Middle Ages and play “Hare and Hunters”, “Fox and Geese”, “Mérelles”, “Alquerque” or “Poor Man’s Chess”, with 4 players and a toton.
  • Souvenir photos
  • Medieval dance : Sunday May 20, 2024, at 6 p.m., the children from the Poigny-la-Forêt school will give a demonstration of medieval round dancing. Spectators will be invited to join the children.

Knights and their horses by reservation

The “Associated Riders of Poigny-la-Forêt” (CAP) will come Saturday May 18, 2024, at 2 p.m., in knightly costume on the Moulineaux site for the delight of horse lovers and photographers. Included in the guided tour. (Read box)

Refreshment bar, catering and merchant

  • A refreshment bar will be available to visitors, an opportunity to taste medieval drinks. Sunday May 19, 2024, from 2 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and Monday May 20, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • “All a cheese” stand by Ludovic Bisot (Meilleur Ouvrier de France). Sunday May 19, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., a stand will allow you to taste a plate of cheese from Ludovic Bisot’s “Tout un fromage” shop in Rambouillet as well as take home a package of cheese. Reservations recommended for plates and cheese packages.
  • Roast pig meal : On Monday May 20, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., visitors will be able to taste a spit-roasted pig dish, prepared on site. By reservation only.
  • “Beauty Jess.” On Sunday May 19, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday May 20, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the “Beauty Jess” stand will allow young and old to buy costumes, toys, accessories such as wooden swords and medieval toys.
