The rain is still likely to cause damage in Belgium in the coming hours. This Friday evening, you will have to be careful in the eastern part of the country. The IRM has placed the provinces of Limbourg, Namur and Luxembourg on yellow alert, and the province of Liège on orange alert. “Today, a new rain-storm wave will reach our regions through Germany. The provinces most affected by this new heavy rainfall are: Liège, Limburg, Namur and Luxembourg with accumulations of 25 to 50 l/m² in 24 hours. On the Ardennes relief, mainly in the province of Liège, the accumulations in 24 hours will reach 50 to 70 mm, or very locally 80 mm. Over 6 hours, it could even fall 40 mm. The criteria are therefore met to place the province of Liège in code orange. Heavy downpours (storms) on a municipal scale sometimes have a predictability horizon of a few minutes to 1 hour”, communicated the IRM this afternoon.

Meteorologist at IRM, Pascal Mormal is also worried about the hours to come. “There is great concern in the province of Liège, and we could see some flooding locally. You will have to be carefulhe warns. Fortunately, we should escape the worst of this depression which fell on part of Germany, close to our borders, and on Alsace and especially the Moselle. You will indeed need to exercise caution when traveling over the next few hours if you have to travel to the east of France, the east of the Grand Duchy and the Saarland in Germany. The Moselle department has just gone into red alert. The A 4 Paris-Strasbourg motorway is cut in Moselle after Metz as well as the A 320 towards Saarbrücken.
