Suspended in April, price negotiations for the new agreement between private doctors and Health Insurance must end this Friday. For professionals in Reunion, as in France, the account is not there.

Negotiations resumed yesterday, Thursday May 16 in France, between private doctors and Health Insurance, continue this Friday May 17. But after months of standoff, the outcome does not seem guaranteed.

The new agreement, which must be signed this Friday, must find a difficult balance between public spending and the attractiveness of the profession. The agreement will be valid for the next 5 years.

The unions demanded a consultation at 50 euros, Health Insurance would accept 30 euros, instead of the current 26.50 euros. The date of application is not yet specified in the convention, and the strongest point of disagreement is at the level of complex consultations.

The National Health Insurance Fund offers a long consultation with the attending physician for 60 euros, but only for specific cases involving people over 80 years old.

On the side of doctors’ unions, the involvement of doctors is still not sufficiently valued.

What we are missing is the increase and taking into account the complexity of chronic pathologies and their management, and for the moment they have only done a complex consultation for patients over 80 years old. . On this, we do not agree at all.

In addition to general practitioners, specialists also point out the lack of recognition.

Many people have technical procedures, including endocrinologists and cardiologists who often carry out additional examinations in addition to their consultations, and for the moment not everything can be billed. We do not take into account the investment of doctors in ultrasound machines which are extremely expensive.

The trade unionist also returns to an aspect specific to the overseas departments, namely the increase in technical acts, with the higher price of utensils due to the dock dues on all medical devices.

Hospital rates in the private sector are expected to increase by 0.3% compared to 4.3% in the public sector. Despite the threat of a strike in June, the negotiations do not seem to be moving the lines. A massive strike by private clinics and hospitals is therefore planned for June 3.

80% of members of the Private Hospitalization Federation have already alerted their Regional Health Agencies. In Reunion, the movement should also be followed. There are 28 private establishments in the Indian Ocean Federation, which employ 3,500 employees.

The Union of Liberal Doctors joins the protest movement, representing 1,400 doctors on the island.
