Over the next few hours, road conditions will be difficult in certain areas. If a Thanksgiving dinner is on your agenda, plan your travels for the return home. Forecast.

Slippery road

While residents of certain areas of the province will have to put on their rain boots, vehicles owned by owners in other regions should ideally have their winter tires over the next few hours… Indeed, a system is making its debut this Monday over Quebec and, surprise: snow is possible, from the beginning of the afternoon!

The roads of the Laurentides wildlife reserve, as well as certain sectors of Estrie and Beauce, along the border with Maine, should be carefully monitored. There could be some mixed precipitation, yes, but as the day goes on, the chances of seeing only snowflakes falling will increase. With these possible snow accumulations, the roads could be slippery. If you have a trip planned for Thanksgiving dinner and you return home in the evening or late evening, caution is advised on the road.

Moreover, a winter road conditions advisory has been issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada. The roadway of Route 175 and Highway 73, in particular, could possibly be covered in snow.

Less grip

If some people have a finicky appetite and carefully select what to put on their Thanksgiving plate, well, summer tires say that they too have the right to be a little finicky! Indeed, even if we are not talking about snow across the whole of Quebec this afternoon and this evening, temperatures will still be below the 7° mark for many areas. If your vehicle is still fitted with its summer tires, below this 7° mark, you must keep in mind that the tires lose a little grip.

A first broadside on the horizon

On average, the date of the first snowfall in Quebec is October 20. By Wednesday, the Laurentides wildlife reserve could well be spoiled with a possibility of 15 cm of snow. Certain sectors of the North Shore could experience the same scenario.

CR5

This snow program should last three days. Thus, the total accumulation of 15 cm might seem less visually striking, since the snow could melt in periods, before starting to accumulate again.
