The president of the Jeunes MR de Tubize attacked and threatened in the center: “I’m afraid of being recognized while passing through a tunnel and that someone catches me”

The day before yesterday, Tuesday around 11 p.m., near the main square of Tubize, the president of the Jeunes MR of the entity Marius Collette was attacked by a young person who “allegedly” stole a scooter, according to local residents and was wanted by the police.

Marius Collette came out of an electoral meeting in the premises of the MR of Tubize (located precisely on the main square). As he reaches his car, he comes across a local young man whom he had already seen once or twice, even talked to without knowing his first name, he explains to us. The young man was hiding from the authorities and “was verbally abusive” reminding Marius Collette that, now, he has his license plate number memorized and knows his address.

Left after this discussion, the attacker came back to him: “he asked me to take him in the car and leave Tubize. Which I refused. I didn’t want to be complicit”. It was then that Marius Collette was threatened with a knife, probably a knife, he thinks. “Be careful what you say”, the attacker told him.

Succeeding in leaving, Marius Collette then left towards the premises of MR Betchard where the police were, but in intervention. Later that night, Marius saw the police leave with a seized scooter, hence the link made with the attacker. “I heard about an attack with a bat but I don’t know if it’s linked to this person”. Marius has since contacted the police and has been summoned to file a complaint.

After the departures of Lyseline Louvigny and Pierre Pinte, the MR of Tubize begins its overhaul: “we are starting from a blank page”

Security in Tubize in question

From this sad experience, Marius Collette found himself “shocked and confused”, leaving at night. “I am a young political activist and I have lived in Tubize for 15 years. People know me and I’m afraid of being recognized passing through a tunnel and someone catching me”.

For the young liberal, the question of security in Tubize poses a problem. “I never wanted to do political recovery on the various criminal events that took place in Tubize but unfortunately I did. I was a direct victim”. Thus, he calls on municipal authorities to provide the necessary means to resolve this type of situation. “I sincerely hope that the political leaders of the municipality will finally make things happen, I know that we are in the electoral campaign but the lives of citizens should be their priority above all!
