HYENE Percusserie (Elephant in the room)

At the Town Hall of the 12th, 3 performances will be offered between 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.

With its soleo HYENE project, Stéphane Gaultier discovered the potential for improvisation and trance of instrumental practice. He decided to make it the heart of his practice. Whether live or on albums he considers his music to be a mixture of punk, hip-hop and noise/experimental music.

Édouard Glissant speaks in his writings of echo-world. Stéphane Gaultier sees the echo-world as his relationship to society, to music, to his music, to his instrument and the dialogue that takes place between this music and his body. His echo-world is his experience. Percusserie is a sporadic and cathartic performance on acoustic and electronic drums. It’s a riot of energy, a trance. It is a constant search for the moment to let go and body intuition. The play with samples and their association through rhythm aims to draw the audience into a musical experience.

Hervé Birolini is a French composer and performer living in the Grand Est. Since 2020, he has been developing a cycle of pieces where he questions the relationship of his music to electrical energy.

Performance for Ruhmkorff coils and electronics. In the manner of the inventors of the end of the 19th century who showcased the progress of their knowledge during scientific conferences, Des éclairs showcases electrical energy. The piece attempts a raw approach to the musicality of electricity by portraying the energy itself. It reveals the pulsation, the wave, the potential difference, the flow of electrons which give rise to sound through electroacoustics.
