Senegal: Ousmane Sonko presents part of the emergency plan against the high cost of living

This Wednesday, Ousmane Sonko presented to the Council of Ministers a communication on the development of the emergency plan against the high cost of living. While waiting for the final report of the work carried out with the various actors involved, “the Prime Minister announced possible measures to reduce the cost of living, after consulting representatives of producers, traders, transporters as well as consumer associations”.

According to the press release from the Council of Ministers, the foodstuffs targeted by the measures are: unscented broken rice, bread, crystallized sugar and oil. The measures that will be applied to these products will allow populations to breathe a sigh of relief in the face of the economic situation.

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye made the fight against the high cost of living a priority in his first speeches. But some opinions believe that the wait is already long. More than a month after taking power, the Senegalese are still waiting for concrete measures to lower the cost of living.
