For more than five months, the Al Hoceïma-Motril maritime line has been suspended without notice. This stop affects the thousands of Moroccans in Europe who are used to taking this maritime route to reach Morocco during the summer holidays as part of Operation Marhaba.

Why was the maritime line linking Al Hoceïma to Motril stopped overnight, when it is in great demand by Moroccans in Europe and residents of the region? This is the question that MP Abdelhak Amghar from the socialist group addressed to the Minister of Transport and Logistics.

The removal of this maritime route will affect the movement of Moroccans from Europe to Morocco this summer as part of Operation Marhaba, said the parliamentarian, adding that the MRE who were used to taking this line to reach the kingdom, will be forced this year to pass through the port of Beni Ensar or the port of Tangier.

The MP asked what urgent measures the government planned to take to reactivate this maritime line and facilitate the transit of MREs who wish to spend their summer holidays in Morocco.
