Senegal, those close to Macky Sall raise their heads

The President of the National Assembly of Cabo Verde, Austélino Tavares CORREIA, is in Dakar, at the invitation of his Senegalese counterpart, President Amadou Mame DIOP, whose political career owes a lot to former President Macky Sall.

The President of the National Assembly of Cabo Verde, Mr. Austélino Tavares CORREIA, arrived this Wednesday, May 15 in Senegal, for a four-day official visit. At the head of a strong delegation, made up of MPs from various political parties, President Austélino Tavares CORREIA will be received, on Wednesday May 15 in the afternoon, at the Palace of the Republic by the Head of State Bassirou Diomaye FAYE.

Amadou Mame DIOP

What should be noted is that this visit is made at the initiative of the President of the Senegalese Assembly, Amadou Mame DIOP who owes a lot to President Macky Sall. By choosing this close family member to chair the National Assembly in 2022, the former head of state surprised everyone. Including in its ranks. Determined to have his instructions respected, Macky Sall did not hesitate to put his deputies under surveillance until the final vote.

The Cabo Verdean delegation will in any case hold a working session at the National Assembly of Senegal with President Amadou Mame DIOP. This visit, let us remember, is part of the desire of the two Assemblies to strengthen bilateral and parliamentary cooperation. But it also shows that the political forces which supported the old power have not given up on existing in the face of the new leaders, including on the diplomatic level

During his stay, President Austélino Tavares CORREIA will also visit some cultural sites in Senegal and meet the Cabo Verdean Community of Senegal.
