He is expected to appear Thursday at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse on a charge of unpremeditated murder.

We do not know why the sixty-year-old would have attacked his daughter so violently. Investigators and forensic identification technicians from the Sûreté du Québec went to the scene to try to establish the circumstances of the crime and collect evidence.

Potential witnesses also had to be met.

This is the 12th woman killed in the province since the start of the year.
