A 43-year-old woman, working as a host family in Lannilis, in northern Finistère, is accused of mistreatment. They would have been committed between 1er February and May 13, 2024.

According to the Brest public prosecutor’s office, this family assistant repeatedly put a 2-year-old girl to bed, with her feet and arms tied to the bars of her bed with laces. The young child was then dressed in two fleeces and shoes.

And, in order to prevent her from sleeping during the day, she would remove the mattress from her bed so that the little girl would sit on the box spring.

Other child victims?

Acts of violence and abuse confirmed by the teenage daughter of the family assistant, who spoke to investigators of other facts concerning other children in care. The accused allegedly grabbed some of them by the neck, shaking their heads violently. She also allegedly put them outside alone to stop their crying and threw glasses of water in their faces. Facts not pursued at this time.

On May 13, the family assistant was placed in police custody at the Lannilis gendarmerie brigade, then brought before the Brest public prosecutor on May 15.

She is summoned on November 7, 2024 before the criminal court. While awaiting her judgment, she was placed under judicial supervision.
