For one hour during the interclass period, extracurricular agents will be on strike from May 21 to 24 to demand better working conditions and salary increases.

In the capital, after-school workers will mobilize from Tuesday May 21 to Friday May 24 to denounce their working conditions. The strike will take place for one hour each day, from 11:25 a.m. to 12:25 p.m.

Consequently, the operation of many canteens in the 630 Parisian schools will be disrupted during the strike period.

The inter-union even foresees “hundreds” of closed canteens, as well as consequences on other activities during interclass, as it indicates in its press release.

“Deteriorating working conditions”

“While the city of Paris is investing millions of euros in the Olympic and Paralympic Games, extracurricular agents are mobilizing to denounce working conditions which are deteriorating on a daily basis,” writes the Parisian union Supap-FSU Animation.

Asem facilitators (specialized early childhood agent), educational managers as well as after-school directors from all over Paris will participate in the mobilization in order to ask for an increase in their salaries, additional positions and an REP bonus (priority education network ) and REP +.

In its list of demands, the inter-union also demands the “contractualization of thousands of temporary workers”, better career development prospects “to restore the attractiveness of our profession” or even “meeting times for all”.

An “emergency”, warn the unions

According to a survey conducted by the union among 220 city education managers (REV), 91% of them are dissatisfied with their working conditions and 96% with their remuneration. More than two thirds of respondents do not wish to continue in this position. “A report which confirms the urgency”, denounces Supap-FSU Animation.

“The first measures of the arsenal of animation obtained thanks to the massive mobilizations of November-December-January at the call of the inter-union Supap-FSU and CFDT remain very insufficient,” insists the union.

The strikers are called to gather in front of City Hall on Thursday May 23 at 2 p.m. A petition was also created for parents to show their support for the mobilization of the sector.
