The Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games will be present this Saturday, May 18 in Mirande for the passing of the Flame in the Gers. Rugby player Anthony Jelonch will be one of the 136 carriers.

D-Day is approaching and we still know a little more about the list of personalities who will take part in the passage of the Olympic Flame in the Gers, this Saturday, May 18.

The event will be notably marked by the visit of the Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra. Expected in Mirande at the end of the morning for the Republican welcome, she will exchange with the torchbearers before taking part in the lighting of the Flame at the town hall, at 11:15 a.m. A moment will also be devoted to thanking the members of the agile convoy , the minister’s departure for Toulouse-Blagnac airport being planned for the beginning of the afternoon.

As for the porters, the organization has confirmed the participation of international rugby player Anthony Jelonch. The third row of Stade Toulousain will carry the Flame to Auch at the very beginning of the evening. As a reminder, the Flame will leave Sainte-Marie Cathedral at 6:05 p.m. to complete a 6.5 km journey throughout the city.

In total, no less than 136 Gers residents will take turns to carry the Flame to the heart of the villages: 17 in L’Isle-Jourdain, 5 in Mirande, 15 in Fleurance, 3 in Marciac, 14 in Condom, 5 in Nogaro and 77 in Auch (29 individual torchbearers and 48 collective torchbearers). Two collective relays are scheduled in the capital of Gers: a first organized by the French Rugby Federation led by captain Paulin Riva (captain of the French sevens rugby team), a second orchestrated by the Caisse d’ Épargne, partner of the 2024 Olympics.
