Vaucluse: Montfavet hospital rewarded for the quality of its care

This is more than good news that the Montfavet hospital center has received, it is real recognition. The High Authority for Health (HAS) issued the Quality of Care certification confirmed to the health establishment specializing in psychiatry at 93.15%. The news broke a month ago, on April 15. “It’s truly a remarkable percentage”, rejoices the director, Marie-Laure Piquemal-Ratouit. This result is all the more a relief as the hospital center had obtained a first certification under conditions at the end of 2022. In these cases, a new visit by HAS experts takes place between six and twelve months later. This period of time allows the health establishment to correct its poor ratings. This is what the Montfavet hospital did. “To obtain certification, we mainly had to improve on three items: control of risky medications, policy concerning users such as peer assistance and the layout of isolation rooms”explains the director of the establishment.

A quality of care to maintain

Marie-Laure Piquemal-Ratouit draws even more satisfaction from this as conditional certification could have discouraged the healthcare teams, in an already difficult hospital context after the health crisis. From now on, the hospital’s challenges are to remain at this level of quality of care: “The constraints exist but we must move forward and make the best of them. How can we maintain the quality of care when there are difficulties in maintaining the existing system and restructuring? That’s the question”, underlines the president of the Establishment Medical Commission (CME), Dr Marie-Noëlle Petit. Maintaining the same level of expertise, diagnosis and monitoring are the establishment’s objectives. “We are also recruiting advanced practice nurses (APNs) who can renew prescriptions, do research, among other things”explains Marie-Laure Piquemal-Ratouit.

“Certification pushes us to make continuous improvements, not at a given moment”concludes the hospital director.
