For four days, the association Bureau d’Accueil des Tournages du Lot-et-Garonne will be at the Cannes Film Festival to attract home film producers.

Let’s go for the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival! For two weeks, big screen professionals meet on the Croisette for the biggest cinema event in the world. And our department is not left out.

Since its creation in 2011, the Lot-et-Garonne Film Reception Office has set itself the mission of putting our territory at the service of the seventh art. The Agenese director Hervé Bonnet, at the head of the structure, is keen to look for film projects, then bring them to our department.

“We don’t see a lot of films!”

Like every year, he goes to Cannes with a few members of the Film Reception Office. But not as spectators. “We’re going to spend four days there, we have scheduled meetings with different production companies,” explains Hervé Bonnet. “We hope to attract these companies to filming projects with us later. It’s always a very intense, very rich time, so we don’t see a lot of films… On the other hand, we take the opportunity to talk with all the professionals we can. Cannes is THE international cinema meeting. We are all in the same place at the same time, for us, coming back every year is a great opportunity.”

850 potential settings in Lot-et-Garonne

The Filming Reception Office carries out extensive reconnaissance work in Lot-et-Garonne, particularly in terms of potential locations. “In our databases, we have abandoned factories, offices… And then castles, obviously,” continues Hervé Bonnet. “At home, we have referenced 850 which can be used as sets in films. We add more each year to meet the demands of the production companies with whom we collaborate. »
The goal is to help film directors put into images what they have in mind.
To do this, the Reception Office has a whole network of partners. “There is the CEDP 47 association, they are the specialists in local landscapes. We are also in contact with cinema volunteers, town hall agents, technicians, communities, the Departmental Tourism Committee, etc. Several types of trades support us. »
Some great successes have thus emerged in Lot-et-Garonne. “The Animal Kingdom” by Thomas Cailley was filmed in Castelmoron-sur-Lot in 2022. In “Fête de Famille” by Cédric Kahn, with Catherine Deneuve, we recognize Nérac and Marmande. “In Nérac, we organized a preview screening of the film, in the green theater. There were more than 1100 spectators! »
Since 2012 – the first year of official activity for the Filming Reception Office – 20 feature films have seen the light of day in Lot-et-Garonne.
