There were many of them on the Estacade, who came to wait for him and support him in his challenge, this Thursday, May 8 at the end of the afternoon. Loud encouragement arose when he appeared steering a surf boat on which young women from the Hossegor coastal rescue were rowing.

For Guillaume Cabanne, the challenge he had set for himself was coming to an end and it was a great pleasure to feel supported and encouraged by anonymous people, but also by the members of the associations which support him like Hope Team East by Stéphanie Barneix, who advocates relief for the sick through sports and Haur Eri for which he raised funds.

From Saint-Lary to Capbreton

The challenge began in Saint-Lary on April 22 to reach Capbreton by alternating stages by bike and long walks accompanied by a few friends who took turns. A few days of rest had been planned and the timing was respected with this successful arrival in the port of Capbreton.

This sporting challenge was unavoidable for him. Guillaume Cabanne suffered from a brain tumor (glioblastoma) for which he underwent surgery on September 6. It was followed by chemotherapy which is still practiced to this day. This 48-year-old athlete did not want to let the disease get him down.

And it was therefore a great satisfaction to have passed this set of tests, surrounded by his friends, who were numerous upon his arrival in Boucarot. Satisfaction with the objective achieved, but also with the welcome given by his loved ones in a festive atmosphere which continued in the Roger-Calès room of the captaincy.

This journey having taken place under chemo (but without the dreaded epileptic seizures) and in the conditions of success described, Guillaume is already preparing for new challenges. The online prize pool for Haur Eri is still open as well as the Facebook or Instagram accounts for new adventures in anticipation.
