Jamilah Habsaoui had already made a first request for release, which was rejected on April 23. According to the daily L’Yonne Républicaine, “the placement under judicial supervision of the elected official was decided by the investigating judge in charge of the case“. Note that one of the mayor’s brothers, also implicated in the case, was also released under judicial supervision at the end of April.

It all started on April 7, when 70 kilograms of cannabis were found at the home of the Habsaoui family by the Yonne gendarmes. As a bonus, they seized 20 gold bars (only two of which turned out to be real), 7,000 euros in cash and a kilo of cocaine.

The investigation began in October 2023. The Avallon research brigade then opened a preliminary investigation into the drug trafficking leader. The investigations made it possible to implicate the two brothers of the elected official in the purchase and resale of narcotics from their sister’s home. In total, six people are involved.
