5G antennaIn order to improve mobile coverage in Martinique and Guadeloupe, Arcep launched frequency allocation procedures in the 700 MHz, 900 MHz and 3.4 – 3.8 GHz bands this Monday. Interested parties have until July 23, 2024 to submit an application.

On May 8, 2024, Arcep published in the Official Journal the decree launching the frequency allocation procedures in the 700 MHz, 900 MHz and 3.4 – 3.8 GHz bands in Martinique and Guadeloupe. These procedures aim to improve mobile coverage in the two overseas departments.

After Reunion, operators will be able to densify their networks in Martinique and Guadeloupe in order to provide very high-speed mobile services to residents.

Two bands available today

In its press release, Arcep indicates that two frequency bands are available today in the two departments: 30 MHz duplex in the 700 MHz band and 380 MHz in the 3.5 GHz band. These openings aim to meet the growing needs of individual and professional users wishing to access efficient and reliable very high-speed mobile services.

The 3.5 GHz band is also the core band of 5G and the additional 380 MHz will significantly strengthen this network in Martinique and Guadeloupe.

From the 1st May 2025, 35 MHz duplex will also be available in the 900 MHz band, with the frequency use authorizations previously issued by Arcep in this band all expiring on April 30, 2025.

Arcep specifies that “the conditions and terms of allocation planned are in line with the guidelines set by the Government” and that “mechanisms and obligations for improving mobile coverage in priority areas for each territory” are planned.

The deadline for submitting application files to Arcep is July 23, 2024 at 12 p.m. Paris time. Any possible requests for information on the procedure must be sent to Arcep no later than June 25, 2024.
