The flame’s journey was marked by moments of joy and enthusiasm, with strong participation across several cities. The Corsicans and many visitors mobilized in large numbers to welcome the Olympic flame.
Bastia was the focal point of this memorable day, with thousands of spectators gathered along the flame’s route. Several other cities also welcomed a significant number of spectators: “1700 people in Île-Rousse, 500 in Corte (with 300 others outside), 250 in Campana, and 430 in Piedicroce” indicates ​the prefecture of Haute-Corse which gave a positive assessment of the event.

At Furiani, the atmosphere was festive with 500 spectators inside the stadium and 600 outside. Bastia was also lively, with 450 people at the Lupino bowling alley and 1,200 others along the route between Lupino and Place Vincenti. Finally, Saint-Nicolas Square was the highlight, attracting no less than 6,000 spectators amazed by the passing of the Olympic flame.
“The success of this major event was possible thanks to the mobilization of 79 courageous torchbearers and the presence of law enforcement and emergency services. A robust security system including 586 police officers, gendarmes and force units mobile units, as well as 14 firefighters and 4 rescuers, ensured the smooth running of the event.” state services indicate.

In a festive and secure atmosphere, this event took place without incident, “reflecting the spirit of solidarity and fraternity of Haute-Corse”. indicated the prefect of Haute-Corse. “The outcome of this day is spectacular” he added before thanking “all those involved, whose commitment contributed to the resounding success of this memorable day.”
