The Senegal national triathlon team performed well at the Regional Triathlon Development Cup held in Algiers on Saturday, May 11, winning a gold and a silver medal.

The gold medal was won by Seynabou Cissé BA, who won in the Junior Girls category with an impressive time of 1h 18mn 16s.

As for the silver medal, it goes to the Senegalese team which ranked second in the team ranking during this competition, reports a press release from the Senegalese Athletics Federation received by APA.

Individually, Mamadou DIOP distinguished himself by placing 7th in the Elite men’s category, with a time of 1h 06mn 30s. For his part, Mohamed Gorgui Urbain Alfred KAMBE ranked in 4th place among the Junior boys, with a time of 1h 12mn 04s, just behind three Algerian athletes.

National coach, Aminata DIOUF, indicated that the three Senegalese triathletes beat their personal best during this Sprint format race, which included a 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run.

This competition hosted by Algiers brought together athletes from six African countries, namely Algeria, Benin, the Central African Republic, Kenya, Sierra Leone and Senegal. The Senegalese team, led by Fara TALL, member of the Executive Committee of the Senegalese Triathlon Federation, returned late in the evening of Sunday May 12.
