Aviation Formation 11 will begin its rehearsal course on May 27. Apart from the increase in the number of F/A-18 flights, it will be on this occasion that the highway will be closed to allow planes to land there.

From May 27 to June 14, Aviation Formation 11 of the Swiss Army will conduct its annual rehearsal course at Payerne Air Base. The F/A-18s will be out on June 3 with, in particular, on the program the verification of the defense system which allows landing and taking off from the A1 motorway. As a reminder, from June 4 to 6 the section between Avenches and Payerne will be closed to traffic so that planes can use it. The A1 will reopen on the morning of June 6.

Why put F/A-18s on the highway?

During the rehearsal course, the Air Base will operate from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Night flights will be operated on June 3 until 10 p.m. Professionals will continue to ensure the availability of the air policing service 24 hours a day.
