After Geneva, the occupation of universities is gaining ground in Fribourg, Bern and Basel

Occupations within universities are increasing in Switzerland. Students have been occupying those in Bern since Sunday, and in Basel and Friborg since Monday. In Lausanne, the alma mater is only occupied during the day after an agreement between the rectorate and the students put an end to nighttime occupation. However, it is not unanimous: a petition, signed by collaborators of the institution, was delivered to the rectorate on Monday. She asks him to “reaffirm the importance of clearly distinguishing research and academic teaching from any activism,” according to the online media Watson. The text responds to a previous petition, also signed by Unil employees, in support of the students occupying the buildings since May 2.
