22 runners and 3 runners from , including 12 from Morbihan, united under the emblem of Team BUT Réunion Passion, will travel to the island of to participate in one of the ultratrails organized during the weekend of 17 and October 18.

“A challenge to myself”

There will be 21 of them present at the start of the legendary Diagonale des Fous (175 km, 10,150 m altitude difference, departure on October 17 at 9 p.m.), two on that of the Trail du Bourbon (100 km, 6,090 m altitude difference, departure on October 18 at 8 p.m.) and two others on that of La Mascareignes (70 km, 4,000 m altitude difference, departure at 1 a.m. on October 18).

Among them, François Pellan (Saint-Brieuc – Team On Running) will participate in La Diagonale des fous for the second time: “ In 2018, I took an honorable 63e place in just over 33 hours. My challenge is to get into 30 hours. Since 2018, I have only been doing ultratrails, seven to eight per year. I won the big Finistère raid in 2022 (166 km)the Saint-Malo ultra trail in 2023 (105 km), finished second in the great Cathar trail (170 km) and eighth at the Montreux ultra trail in Switzerland. But, competing with the world elite on the Madeira trail in Portugal, I took the 47e place. I dedicate this race to Reunion to my father, who died this summer, who should have accompanied me. »

For Corinne Le Glouanec (APL’Orient – Larmor Estran), the challenge will be different during this Diagonale des Fous. She simply wants to go to the end, to cross the finish line on time. “ I know the island having lived there for two years. I competed in the marine ultra trail last year (175 km) and the Bretagne Ultra Trail over a distance of 112 km. That’s how I found myself on this team. I prepared well. It’s a challenge to myself. I remain well aware of the difficulties that will present themselves during this crossing of the island, between the length of the route and these pitfalls, such as the difference in altitude and the particular weather. But I am motivated to succeed in this challenge. »
