The Aude Departmental Analysis Laboratory opens a new website

The Aude Departmental Analysis Laboratory, based in Carcassonne, has created a new website to increase its visibility and explain to all Aude residents how this public laboratory works.

The Aude departmental analysis laboratory, opened in 1971, recently opened a new website called laboratory-analyses.aude.fr. The aim of this new website is to be able to make Audois more easily aware of their actions in the daily life of the entire department, in particular the good health of animals, the quality of water as well as hygiene and Food Safety. “We have collectively chosen to create our own website. With this new feature, we want to increase the visibility of the laboratory because it is still unknown to the majority of Audois despite a significant impact on the territory. The site will offer an animated showcase of our activities to be able to communicate more easily with our partners and our future service providers”, explain Nicolas Marchand, director of the Aude departmental analysis laboratory.

Nicolas Marchand presented the different missions of the Aude departmental analysis laboratory.

Four main units and 10,000 analyzes per year

The laboratory, made up of 21 agents, laboratory technicians and permanent doctors and around twenty interns, offers more than 10,000 analyzes per year for local authorities, professionals and individuals on five very distinct units. Each unit plays a leading role in the laboratory, whether for water, food hygiene or animal health, particularly in cattle. There are currently two water-related units. On the one hand, there is the water bacteriology unit which aims to maintain good quality of consumable tap water for residents, for water used in hospitals or even sea or lake water. And on the other side there is the water chemistry unit which studies river water and the optimal functioning of wastewater treatment plants based throughout Aude. The food hygiene unit acts in health monitoring in the food pyramid and the products produced by local breeders and producers. In particular, they analyze food microbiology by looking for microorganisms that can potentially be hidden in certain food products. And the animal health unit carries out a notable task in health surveillance in cattle, sheep and goat herds. The Aude department is unique in France in taking charge of almost all of the analyzes carried out for breeders.
