The weather will be marked on Tuesday by the passage from west to east of a band of rain, sometimes stormy and virulent, particularly in the south-eastern quarter, indicates Météo France. Calvados is on orange alert due to flooding on the Dives. During the night from Monday to Tuesday, a very rainy band will be organized from Normandy to the south of the Garonne, mixed with locally strong thunderstorms in the first part of the night from Limousin to Aquitaine with a risk of hail and gusts.

Significant precipitation in the south

During the day on Tuesday, this disturbed area will progress slowly towards the east. In the morning, it will extend from Hauts-de-France and the Center to Occitanie, with heavier precipitation in the south. It will be preceded by initially weak waves in the east. In the afternoon, the rainy zone will rotate from the north of the Seine to Champagne and Burgundy and will reach the entire south-eastern quarter up to the Mediterranean regions.

The precipitation will increase and be mixed with thunderstorms from the south of the Massif Central to Languedoc-Roussillon, and in particular over the Cévennes to the Languedoc plains where significant accumulations are expected. The south to southeast wind will blow between 50 and locally 70 km/h from Languedoc and Provence to the south of the Massif Central and Lyonnais. In the far north-east, after a beautiful morning, stormy showers will occur over the relief of the Jura and the Vosges and will eventually spill over onto the Alsace plain.

In the northwest from the morning, then throughout the west in the afternoon, the weather will become unstable with some clearings interspersed with showers. The latter will multiply in the afternoon and become locally stormy. Sometimes marked storm lines will cross New Aquitaine in particular.

Up to 28 degrees in Alsace

Expected temperatures are 10 to 15 degrees in the early morning. During the day, the maximums will still reach 22 to 25 degrees from the Ardennes to Lorraine, 25 to 28 in Alsace. Elsewhere, they will be significantly lower with 15 to 19 degrees in general, 20 to 22 in Provence and the Côte d’Azur. In the evening and night from Tuesday to Wednesday, the heaviest rain will shift to the eastern third with temporarily sustained and stormy activity around the Rhône valley.
