The Neuchâtel Police were vigilant during the Ascension. With the aim of prevention and repression, road safety was reinforced last weekend in the canton of Neuchâtel. Speed checks were notably carried out with laser binoculars, which made it possible to reveal several serious offenses, the police said in a press release sent this Monday. Thirty-nine vehicles were intercepted for speeds of 105 to 130 km/h on sections limited to 80 km/h. Among them, 18 drivers risk a warning, five a one-month license withdrawal and 16 a three-month license withdrawal. The press release specifies that the sanctions may be increased depending on the background of the drivers involved. During Ascension, the police also observed ten traffic accidents, six of which left a total of seven injured, including two motorcyclists. Checks of this type will be repeated, the press release further specifies, particularly during long weekends, to “continue efforts in terms of road safety”. /comm-fba
