Sévérac d’Aveyron: Jacques Granié returns to his first love

On Wednesday May 1, Jacques Granié inaugurated his new premises located at 3 rue des Fleurs and celebrated his new profession as a wood craftsman which he has been practicing since January 16, 2023.

Jacques has always been from Sévéragais and wishes to remain so. With a CAP carpenter and fitter obtained at the Jean Vigo high school in Millau and then a CAP cabinetmaker obtained at the CFA in Rodez, he worked at ITA for 4 and a half years before becoming intermittent.

He gave in to music, his second passion, at the age of 16, where he set up his mobile disco, then his orchestra at 19 before becoming a professional entertainer 15 years ago. Jacques has successfully hosted balls in 29 departments and even as far away as Paris. But like many musicians he had to stop the orchestra because of COVID.

Today, he says he wants to do “this job because it’s my passion, because it’s also a family continuation. There are 4 generations of Granié carpentry and it’s still in the same place. I worked here in Grandpa Jo’s workshop I chose May 1 to do the inauguration because it is Labor Day and for me, work is sacred..

The activity is mainly based on custom manufacturing with solid wood, particle board and everything related to creation in kitchens, dressing rooms, interior layout, stairs… All this without setting any limitations geographical. Fame is assured with this well-known name of Granié, but also thanks to the numerous musical and associative relationships that Jacques was able to establish. Even if he stopped playing music Jacques “still plays the accordion for half an hour a day”.
