Over the course of a weekend, 59 national monuments (including two in ) will offer unusual experiences and activities to children aged 5 to 12 to help them discover the specificities of each site and their history in a fun way.

Organized by the Center for National Monuments, the “Child’s Play Monument” event returns for a 26th edition on the weekend of October 19 and 20, to celebrate monuments and heritage sites with the family. Palaces, castles, archaeological sites, parks and gardens or abbeys will then be discovered from a new perspective, between learning and wonder.

Treasure hunts, workshops of all kinds, shows, theatrical performances, guided and storytelling tours, balls, escape games will be on the program for this new edition. All activities are free for those under 26 and included in the entrance fee to the monument for adults.

Knights: warriors and cultured!

October 19 and 20 from 10:20 a.m. to 11 a.m., 11:15 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. and from 2:15 p.m. to 2:50 p.m., 3:15 p.m. to 3:50 p.m.

The Knights of the Order of the 4 Winds, a medieval reenactment and fencing association, will offer an introduction to medieval fencing for children. They will have to be attentive because they will then join the Page Guard to protect the city from thieves! A parent, more or less willing, will then be knighted and dressed in full knightly attire. Finally, everyone will be invited to learn one or two medieval dances.

Fort Saint-André in Villeneuve-lez- Conte d’Ô: when creativity rhymes with ecological awareness

October 19 and 20 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Echoing the exhibition “A fort, a river, the Rhône” which is on the monument’s tour route, visual artists Soriana Im and Simona Acerbi are offering an installation created for the ACTE 3 festival in Camargue, on the theme of water. Plant installations highlighted through a tale where water is guardian of the memories, memories and dreams of the children of the earth.

A boat loaded with hope, collective artistic creation workshop

After the performance, the artists invite young and old to give free rein to their imagination and dream together through a collective work. Thus, elements belonging to the landscape of the banks of the Rhône such as plants and even certain waste, will be the basis of the collective work. Enhanced by the assembly games and the lights, the work will take the shape of a boat.
