In Vieux-Habitants, the 14th edition of “La rue de l’Artisanat” was held this Sunday (May 12, 2024). A day where the public came in large numbers and was able to walk the streets of the city center to discover the treasures offered by the hundred invited artisans.

Craftsmanship is attracting more and more young people to Guadeloupe, in a complicated economic context. The activity is gaining ground, a dynamic that can be found in many urban and rural communities, such as Vieux-Habitants. For this new edition of “la rue de l’Artisanat”, the public was invited to discover the treasures offered by the hundreds of invited artisans.

Because it is a sector which brings together professions of passion, know-how and freedom. Craftsmanship represents proximity and preserves social bonds.
By choosing this sector, men and women have chosen to design, build, create, develop and sometimes share their success.

Esaïe, for example, has just obtained a double distinction at the 7th French Honey Competition.

It must be said that craftsmanship is attracting more and more people to Guadeloupe and its economy has never been so prosperous. However, you have to know how to maintain and build customer loyalty. This remains the main challenge for craftsmen.

Is craftsmanship the answer to the employment problem in Guadeloupe? The answer is perhaps yes, because the sector continues to attract dozens of apprentices to the department.
