In the footsteps of the Resistance

Peyrat-le-Château. 1505 Discovering the Resistance Museum. On the occasion of European Museum Night, Saturday May 18, the association of Creators and Friends of the Resistance Museum and the town hall of Peyrat-le-Château invite you to discover or rediscover this museum dedicated to the colonel’s maquis Guingouin, open and free to visit.

The exhibition rooms present the commitment of Georges Guingouin, figure of the Resistance, the birth and actions of the maquis, but also the dramas of Tulle and Oradour-sur-Glane, the internment camps in Haute-Vienne and the Nazi concentration and extermination camps.

During this visit, you will also be able to discover the reconstruction of the surrender of the Germans in Limoges, a surrender obtained without bloodshed thanks to the Resistance fighters of Georges Guingouin’s maquis, and watch the documentary First Brigade by François Perlier, who offers the testimony of companions of the maquis. Volunteers from the museum association will be on hand to guide you and answer your questions.

Or when ? Meet from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday May 18, at the Resistance Museum located in the main building adjoining the Tower.
