GTA, THE FPSO IS FINALLY IN SENEGAL-MAURITANIAN TERRITORIAL WATERS

After 06 days of travel from the Canary Islands of Las Palmas (Tenerife), the Floating Gas Production and Storage Unit (FPSO) arrived, this Saturday, May 11, 2024, on the GTA field on the Senegalese-Mauritanian border.

The FPSO is one of the essential elements for the gas production of the GTA project, being a determining part in its implementation, notes the text.

Started in 2019 in China, the GTA FPSO, whose construction was impacted by COVID-19, left the COSCO yards in January 2023 for additional work at the Sembcorp yards in Singapore. After a scheduled stop in Mauritius, he made a technical stopover at the Hidramar Yard in Tenerife to complete a certain number of works, for greater safety in production, the press release specifies.

Currently 92.5% complete, our Source still explains, “the rest of the activities will be completed in Senegalese-Mauritanian waters where the FPSO will be put into service for gas production. This commissioning is an important stage during which there will first be interconnection with the various subsea equipment before the start-up of this floating factory.”

As a reminder, the FPSO is used to carry out an initial treatment of the gas to separate it from other elements which accompany it during production, in particular water and condensate.

During this pretreatment, the gas passes through various stabilization and conditioning modules which provide a product that meets the standards and specifications for export to the hub-terminal.
