10th murder of the year in Montreal: a man found inanimate in an alley in Plateau-Mont-Royal

Montreal police have opened an investigation into a suspicious death following the discovery of a body in an alley in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough on Sunday morning. It would be the 10e murder to occur in the metropolis since the beginning of the year.

Emergency services were called around 5 a.m. regarding a man found unconscious in an alley located near the intersection of avenue du Parc and avenue du Mont-Royal.

Resuscitation maneuvers were carried out without success and the man in his thirties was pronounced dead on site. The victim having marks of violence on his body, an investigation was opened to elucidate this suspicious death, underlined Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the Police Department of the City of Montreal.

At the end of the morning, the SPVM was able to confirm that it was the 10e homicide to occur on its territory in 2024.

A perimeter was thus erected to protect the scene. Witnesses will be met by investigators who will also view surveillance cameras in the area.

Avenue du Parc is currently closed between Villeneuve and Duluth streets while Mont-Royal avenue is blocked between Hutchison and Jeanne-Mance streets.
