Ice hockey: Kevin Fiala will join the Swiss team at the World Cup

Excellent news for the Swiss team participating in the world championship in Prague and which will be in action this Sunday evening (8:20 p.m.) against Austria, two days after beating Norway on Friday in their opening game (5-2) : a seventh NHL player joins the group led by Zougois Patrick Fischer.

The Saint-Welsh winger of the Los Angeles Kings Kevin Fiala (27 years old) attended the birth of his first child before expressing his desire to take part in his fifth world championship… to everyone’s surprise since the leaders and Swiss coaches no longer counted on his participation.

The agreement with all parties, particularly for insurance, was made possible thanks to enormous work carried out behind the scenes at Swiss Ice Hockey.

The arrival of Kevin Fiala is of inestimable value, even if the player has not put on his skates since May 2, the date of the elimination of his NHL team in the first round of the play-offs against Edmonton (4-1 ).

In 82 regular season matches played in 2023-2024, he was credited with 73 points, including 29 goals.
