A man in his thirties died this Sunday morning of cardio-respiratory arrest during an undeclared rave party organized since Thursday in Parnay (Maine-et-Loire), near Saumur. An event which attracted some 10,000 people, announced the department prefecture.

The victim was treated very quickly by emergency services but unfortunately died on the spot, the sub-prefect of Saumur, Christophe Carol, told AFP.

A judicial investigation was opened under the authority of the Saumur public prosecutor and no information on the potential causes of death has yet been communicated.

A forbidden rave party

The undeclared rave party was over by midday on Sunday and many participants had already started to leave the site. Revelers came from all over France to take part in this event which took neighboring towns and the authorities by surprise despite a prefectural decree prohibiting festive gatherings throughout the long Ascension Bridge weekend. Participants leaving the rave had to pay a fine of 135 euros as the party was illegal.
