Sunday May 12, Météo France placed the four departments of Franche-Comté on yellow “thunderstorms” vigilance for the afternoon, evening and night. Small thunderstorms are expected, as well as wind gusts not exceeding 60 km/h.

Four days and then gone. After a nice sunny spell, notably marked by superb northern lights, clouds and rain should return to Franche-Comté this Sunday, May 12, 2024. Météo France has thus placed Doubs and the Territoire de Belfort on yellow “thunderstorms” alert “, from 1 p.m. this Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday May 13. Same situation in Jura and Haute-Saône, where the alert will start today at 2 p.m., and also end tomorrow morning.

In terms of precipitation, stormy showers are expected locally, “particularly brief“according to the specialized site Météo franc-comtoise, accompanied”some heavy rain, thunder or a gust of 60km/h” maximum. In the Jura, “storms may break out on and near the relief before reaching the plain” with “rains bringing 5 to 10 mm in a short time” indicates the prefecture.

In Haut-Doubs, “threatening weather even appears and a few localized storms take shape around 2 or 4 p.m., without particular violence, before reaching the Pays de Montbéliard-Belfort and its outskirts at the end of the day or early evening” resumes Météo Franc-Comtoise.

The authorities invite residents to “be careful this afternoon and until the middle of the night” in the event of outdoor activities. As a reminder, the yellow “thunderstorms” alert was extended to 65 French departments this Sunday, May 12. It will remain on 11 of them the next day, including all of Franche-Comté.
