Île-de-: farmers mobilize again and exchange city signs
Île-de-France: farmers mobilize again and exchange city signs

Town entrance signs from which are found in Vexin, and plaques from Livilliers moved to Goussainville. Some motorists may have been confused this Wednesday morning in Val-d’Oise, but also in Essonne and . A little less than a year after the farmers’ protest movement in January 2024, which paralyzed many roads, farmers are once again occupying the field to make themselves heard.

During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, members of the Young Farmers of Île-de- union exchanged signs indicating the names of the municipalities. An action in line with that launched a year ago in Tarn with the panels turned over. In Val-d’Oise, the plaques of the villages of Vexin were removed, to exchange them with those of the communes of the Plaine de France, in the east of the department, i.e. the two main rural sectors of the territory.

“Apart from words, there was nothing concrete”

An operation which reflects “total fed up”, in the words of Donatien Moyson, co-president of young farmers Île-de-France Ouest. Because, according to him, the government’s commitments made at the end of the unprecedented movement of January 2024 have not been followed up on. To put an end to the discontent, the then Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced in particular “fiscal and social support”, the strengthening of the Egalim law, or the facilitation of transfers of agricultural operations.

“Apart from words, there was nothing concrete. We have completely fallen behind the Olympic Games… The agricultural orientation bill has also been on hold since the dissolution,” regrets Donatien Moyson. It does not rule out new actions. “It depends on the feedback we get. But we won’t wait long… We were nice last time, but we can think about blockages of a different scale,” he warns.
