As part of the third “China-France Cultural & Artistic Week at Jinji Lake in Suzhou”, which takes place jointly in Paris and Suzhou from October 5 to 20, 2024, a photographic exhibition will offer enthusiasts a selection of photos reflecting the entire diversity and all the beauty of the landscapes of the shores and islands of Lake Jinji in Suzhou. Suzhou, the alliance of tradition and modernity Suzhou, the “Chinese Venice”, is renowned for its elegant stone bridges, canals and remarkable architecture. The city is one of the oldest cities in the Yangtze basin, dating back over 2,500 years. It is home to magnificent classical gardens, nine of which have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites, temples, historic districts and world-class museums. In the modern SIP district, on the banks of Lake Jinji, contemporary buildings compete in audacity and modernity. The Office of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Administrative Committee of the Suzhou Industrial & Cultural Park as well as Paris je t’aime – Tourist Office signed a cultural partnership agreement in 2021, with the aim of organizing each year the China-France Cultural & Art Week at Jinji Lake in Suzhou and establish friendly cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism and art. The districts of Montmartre in Paris and Ligongdi in Suzhou have also concluded a partnership agreement. This year 2024 also celebrates the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, as well as the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism. In 2024, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the development and its construction, the Jinji Lake SIP park in Suzhou continues its strategy of revitalizing the neighborhood by developing cultural & artistic activities, through the cross-integration of Eastern and Western cultures and the interaction of traditional and modern cultures, while promoting cultural exchanges between China and France.
