This long Ascension weekend marks the start of the summer season for the tourism sector, such as campsites. After several weeks of rain, these four days of sunshine attracted tourists to the Jura, as in Clairvaux-les-Lacs, where it was like a dress rehearsal for the summer holidays.

Petanque, ping-pong, swimming pool or lake. Holidaymakers are spoiled for choice. The Yelloh Village Fayolan campsite in Clairvaux-les-Lacs was almost full for this long weekend. “There are only places left for tents and campers. The mobile homes are all rented”, rejoiced Anaëlle Rozen, the co-director of the campsite.

“We tan and play pétanque

With this bright sun and summer temperatures, tourists take advantage of the swimming pool but also the lake and its beach. “We tan, we have an aperitif and we play pétanque“, explains Aurélie, who came from Arbois with her group of friends. A long weekend with the air of summer holidaysit’s like August“, rejoices the campsite management.

The campsite welcomes mainly French people during this long weekend, many of whom come from the region. The Ascension Bridge kicks off the summer season and always attracts a lot of tourists. But the sun can make a difference, “we have more last-minute travelers, for example those who come in a campervan and decide when they see the weather“, explains Anaëlle Rozen, the co-director of the campsite.

An almost full campsite for this Ascension weekend is also what the Fayolan can expect next week for Pentecost, provided that the sun comes out again.
