As recently as March 19, The Voice of the East announced that Ian Matthews, Bob Crawford and Rémi Robert were preparing to pass the torch and that Sorel would become the new owner. All that was missing was the approval of the governors’ office, which however took a long time to come.

“It’s the culmination of something we’ve been working on for a while,” explains Sorel, of Roxton Pond, a retired army officer. I am happy and my goal is to truly give the Inouk back to the community.”

Sorel appeared in the Inouk entourage in 2022 as an equipment attendant. Then, last season, he found himself associate general manager alongside Rémi Robert following the departure of Danny Gélinas.

Mathieu Normandin, who worked alongside Scott Colosimo behind the bench last season, will be a minority owner. And Colosimo will add the title of director of hockey operations to that of head coach, while Vincent Lévesque, a former Inouk, becomes head recruiter.

That said, Sorel will be the CEO.

“Providing good hockey to our fans, getting involved as much as possible in the community, these are our main objectives,” continues Sorel. Mathieu and I come from the region and we know the importance of a team that is close to its fans.”

A press conference will take place soon. The Inouk will then officially make way for the Indigo.
