The mayor of Amiens, without explaining further why she made this decision, announced that she was entrusting the reins of the city to her first deputy, Hubert de Jenlis: “After careful consideration over several months, I decided to entrust the future of our city to Hubert de Jenlis, my First Deputy, in whom I have complete confidence. I will therefore propose his name during an extraordinary municipal council which will meet very soon to confirm this decision. Hubert is a man with heart, deeply committed to Amiens, and I am convinced that he will be able to continue and amplify the work that we have carried out together. It will uphold the values ​​of solidarity, innovation and excellence which are dear to our city“.

She also announces remain a municipal councilor et “continue to assume the responsibilities of my role as 2nd vice-president of Amiens Métropole responsible for human resources and general administration. Just as I continue my mandate as 1st Vice-President of the Hauts-de-France Region in charge of general administration, legal affairs, administrative simplification, personnel and dialogue with unions“. Brigitte Fouré will send her letter of resignation to the prefect of the this Tuesday, October 8, specifies the press release.

Brigitte Fouré became mayor of Amiens for the first time on June 27, 2002, when Gilles de Robien, her political mentor, became minister of transport and housing. She resigned in March 2007 and became deputy again to allow Gilles de Robien to regain his seat. Following the lost election in March 2008, she sat in opposition until 2014. Brigitte Fouré was finally elected mayor with 50.39% of the votes on March 30, 2014, and officially succeeded Gilles Demailly on April 4. She will be re-elected on June 28, 2020, with 45.79% of the votes.

Having passed through the local, regional and even European levels (European MP from January 2008 to July 2009), Brigitte Fouré is also an executive of the UDI, the Union of Democrats and Independents, a party of which she is vice-president. She is also first vice-president of the Hauts-de-France region.
