The municipal policies of Glazed (Ille-et-Vilaine) arrested a thief of about twenty years, in the nuit of Saturday October 5 to Sunday October 6 2024.

The man was stopped in the living room from a house located near the Place du Champ de Foire, in the presence of a mother and her two young children.

Before entering this house, the latter would have committed several other misdeeds nearby in the same evening, before his arrest and placement in police custody by the police.

Police alerted around 11:30 p.m.

Saturday, around 11:30 p.m. the municipal police had been alerted for the first time by the Gendarmerie Operations and Intelligence Center (CORG).

Cyrille Bahu, head of the municipal police, recounts the facts of this evening of intervention:

“We were initially contacted to report a car that was being damaged or stolen on the Place du Champ de Foire. The CORG puts us in touch with a witness to the situation who gives us a description of the alleged thief. »

The Vitré municipal police chief and two police officers accompanied by a patrol dog immediately went to the scene. The individual has not been found.

The police will later note, during their investigations, that two vehicles stationed on this square were degraded. They showed signs of attempted break-in.

Twenty minutes later, around 23 h 50, the patrol received a new call reporting that an individual had entered a home located near the Fairgrounds.

She had heard that someone was entering her home. She was waiting for the return of her husband who had gone to attend a match in Rennes, but as the lights did not come on, she immediately knew it was not him.

The criminal explored the house after entering the home through the front door which was not locked. “The burglar entered the bedroom of the third child who was sleeping,” adds Cyrille Bahu.

The municipal police patrol will intervene quickly in the home. L’man is arrested and handcuffed in the living room from the house, in the presence of the mother and two of her young children.

Suspected burglar put away by resident

The man is evacuated from the house. A bank card belonging to the occupant as well as the keys to his car will be found on the thief.

Keys and various objects “certainly stolen from one of the vehicles at Place du Champ de Foire” were also found in his jacket, left in the home.

A judicial police officer from the gendarmerie will finally take him into custody.

The police will return during the night to the Place du Champs de Foire to carry out observations on the damaged vehicles, before experiencing a new twist.

Cyrille Bahu continues his story: “During our presence, a young man introduced himself to us, declaring that he had the visit from this same thief in his home, while he was sleeping. He found himself face to face with him and put him on the run. »

In his escape, the individual will drop the stolen bank card of this resident of the Boulevard des Rochers.

Immediate appearance

The alleged perpetrator of these thefts is known about the services police and gendarmerie. “It was the same author of a truck theft committed on August 13, boulevard Georges-Charpak. He then hit the wall of a house in the Villaudin district with this truck after refusing to comply. » The latter had already been arrested and placed in police custody.

Ce Monday October 7, he was presented to the prosecution as part of a procedure of immediate appearance. He was sentenced has 10 months in prison with suspended probation.

This intervention prompts the head of the municipal police to recall the permanent availability of the police.

Cyrille Bahu and his teams had also stepped up their surveillance system in the neighborhoods after noting an increase in the number of burglaries in recent months.
